Hi everyone. This is my first post here and I'm having a problem. I can't figure out what it might be. I'm deaf so subtitles are great for me to be able to enjoy movies.

I've been using Time Adjuster for a while now and I'm happy with it. but for some reason a problem just started.

I have a SRT file and it plays with me video just fine. BUt the timing is off a couple of seconds. When I try to open it in Timeadjuster it brings up a "Error - Invalid format" box. So I can't open the file.

I tried opening other SRT files and there no problem. And here's the thing that really gets me. To better explain:

A = the file that won't open in Time adjuster.
B = A different SRT file for a different movie. This one works fine and will open in time adjuster.

I opened (A) with notepad and copied all it's content. Then I pasted it into the (B) file and saved it. Now (B) won't open anymore in time adjuster.

So I'm thinking there's something in the content of the (A) file that's wrong. But why would it bring up a "File format" error?

Any idea how I can fix this so I can adjust the time?

Thanks for you help.

Just tried something and it worked for me!!!

I had changed some lines in the file so the first line was no longer nº1.

So I just changed be nº of the first line back to 1 and it worked fine.

Hope this works for you 2

:D

Time Adjuster scans first lines of file to determinate format.
Make sure there are no extra characters there (like new lines, white characters etc).

Kind regards!

Hey guys...

I just solved this so call "Wrong format" thing concerning subtitles. Maybe my problem is different from you all had.

I run through every line of the subtitles...and i found out that at the beginning of the subtitle until 8 lines the sentences have no full stop.
So i just put the full stop and TA reads OK!!

So...If there's problem about " wrong format" try this solution.

Good luck!

Got the same problem on one file, and nothing worked of the solutions written there.
I may have misread, but the two first lines appear to have no invalid character in them.

Here they are:

1
00:01:16,826 --> 00:01:19,662
I believe in America.

The reason is simple : you just don't believe in the right country !
No no no... that's a bad joke, sorry :twisted:

Seriously : another user find an error at line 8, so Lien, the error could be at every line ! Just start by the firsts (plurial) lines, hoping it's there and not anywhere else.

I had the same error, because there was a tabulation at the beginning of the first line of times :
Wrong line
Code:
1
   00:00:28,763 --> 00:00:31,766
Downloaded From http://www.AllSubs.org

Simply fixed by deleting the tabulation :
Good one
Code:
1
00:00:28,763 --> 00:00:31,766
Downloaded From http://www.AllSubs.org

Thanks for all the advices.
I also use TM adjuster since long ago and am very pleased with it. I corrected numbers of subtitles with great efficiency ! The tools are a bit rustic (I'm looking for v3.2 since years) but they do the job :D
Thanks for who made possible Time Adjuster :mrgreen:
