Hi folks,

I've got one problem with TH: When I click a web-hyperlink in the message opened in TH the corresponding web-page is opened not in Maxthon browser but in IE though my default browser is Maxthon.

Could anybody tell me how I can make TH to open web-pages in Maxthon?

Nikita

Try this:
Go to Configuration menu / Common settings / General settings - and uncheck "open new IE window...."

Best regards,
Irek

Hi Irek,

Thanx for the quick reply.

I've unchecked "open new IE window...." but it hasn't helped: corresponding web-pages are still opened not in Maxthon but in IE. :(

Any other suggestions?

Nikita

OK, I'll be waiting. Thanx.

I've noticed also some other TH drawbacks but I will tell about them later.

Regards,
Nikita

I'm always looking for user feedback - so if you have some thoughts - just post it here or send me directly at e-mail :)
Thanks!

Irek,

E-mailing is a substantial part of my daily routine: I get 70-80 messages a day (not counting spam). For that reason apps which are usually labelled as e-mail notifiers are very important for me and I'm quite experienced with them as a user. Though I've already tried perhaps 10-12 of them I haven't managed to find the one which would satisfy me 100%.

The first e-mail notifier I used was ePrompter. Not bad but too simple for me. Than I tried a lot of similar apps and at the moment I use POP Peeper. It is a very good program indeed but still I feel a lack of some functions (for instance a simple client to reply a message). POP Peeper also poorly works with Cyrillics.

TH works with Cyrillics perfectly and has some other very useful features and I was very glad when I found it the other day. I seemed to me in the beginning that I found the app I need but... later I noticed some things which prevented me from making TH my default e-mail notifier. One thing I have already mentioned. Another negative point is that TH takes comparatively much of my system resources (approx. twice as much as POP Peeper does). It's not good for an app which should constantly work in the background.

There are also some other negative points which I would be happy to tell you about and share my experience as a user but unfortunately my typing speed is too slow and I don't have time for that. But I would definitely be able to try to help you to make your app better if we could talk via Skype.

If you want let me know and I will send you an invitation to Skype (it's free).

Regards,
Nikita

I will fix this browser problems in next version for sure (I can send pre-release version for tests if you like).

Could you confirm that even now when you click on "www like" links in Tray Helper - your favorite borowser is begin open? (You can check it by clicking "Bounce message" button and then clicking on "Click here to learn more").

Well it's true - Tray Helper can take more resources that some people are able to let go. In fact resources are one of my priorites while creationg this application.

The basic idea to minimize memory and CPU ussage is to split application into small modules and keep loaded only those ones that are needed right now. Tray Helper has many external COM modules (like spell-checker, mail modules ect.) that are only for this one purpose. Also the idea of plugins helps to minimize resource ussage. Even with all this technology there must be some code at the core application (for example to manage those external COM modules ) and this code grows slowly from version to version.

Well... most likely I will not be able to talk via Skype (my PC is not a multimedia device - rather a programmer workstation) - but I would love to hear your feedback. There is no a big rush at all - just drop me an e-mail or post here a small message when something you feel important comes at your mind :)

Very best regards and thanks!

Irek,

Just wanted to confirm the above question regarding opening of URLs within TH. I use Maxthon also (very good tabbed version of IE), and links within emails will open in IE only, regardless of how I have the "open in new window of IE when navigating to URL..." set. Even with Maxthon running, and IE closed, it will run IE and open the link.

Hope the info helps.

Any hints on when a new version might be out? Anxiously waiting - good luck on the improvements.

Today I released TH 4.7 with should solve some of the links problems. Now if you open a new link form main TH application (for example from About application tab) it should be opened in a correct way.

Unfortunely plugins also need an update to support this new way of opening URLs and I plan to update plugins later this month.

Let me know if links opened by main TH 4.7 application are fine.
Thanks!
Irek

Hi Irek,

Just wanted to confirm that URLs in the About tab of TH open fine in the default browser (Maxthon, for me), whether that program's open or not. Cool!

Links contained in emails still open and use IE no matter what, but I think you already know that.

A related thought with regards to the About tab/info. I think you should add an "About TH" menu item to the top Help pulldown menu and maybe the bottom Support menu, as most programs have a little page that gives a something to say about the program, and the About tab can be disabled in TH by registered users.

Thanks again for a great program!
