Hi to all
Many users asks me for SSL (Secure Socket Layer) support in Tray Helper. I promised to implement this feature in TH TH 4.4 and today I finished the first stage: I implemented POP3 and SMTP over SSL.
POP3 is used to download e-mails from server and SMTP to send messages.
If you need those features right now and you don't want to wait for TH 4.4 - just follow those steps:
- shut down Tray Helper for update process
- download this file:
http://www.ireksoftware.com/th/misc/th_ssl.zip - Extract Tray_Helper.exe file from the zip package and overwrite existing file in subdirectory of Tray Helper (usually C:\Program Files\Tray Helper_your_name)
- start Tray Helper
after those steps - go to configuration of your e-mail account and click on "More settings" - you should be able to select SSL support for POP3 and SMTP.
Tray Helper uses SSL encryption build in into MS Windows. This feature is present in Windows NT, 2000, XP and most likely will not work on Win9x
This version of file has also some minor improvements and bug fixes. - One worth to mention is a ability to change order of e-mail accounts easily. Now you can just right click on e-mail account in tree control of Configuration tab and select from pop-up menu if you want to move this account up or down.
- Another one is support of MS Outlook type read notifications.
All suggestions, bug reports and feedback is welcome.
