I have just released an updated version of Tray Helper 4.7 (build Feb 6 2005). This version introduces a new crash detection and report system. If your Tray Helper will ever crash on next run of application you will be prompted to send a crash report to IrekSoftware company for examination. I hope with help of this mechanism we will be able here to make the application even more stable and reliable.

7th of February - update of MailEx_COM.dll - thanks to this update decoding some large attachments will be much faster.


This release fixes also few minor bugs.

Hi,

I just downloaded the updates and restartet TH but the build date is still Jan 31 and not Feb 06!
Also there are no updates in liveupdate anymore.

Will you update the setup file?

Hi Markus!

Maybe you start Tray Helper not from created by application desktop or menu link but directly running tray_helper.exe executable. In order to properly finish update proces launch.exe file from Tray Helper subdirectory should be used to start application.

Please let me know if this is / this is not an issue here.

After running launch.exe directly from the TH dir - the link on the desktop points to this file, too - the build information was Feb 06.

I will change it so starting tray_helper.exe directly will be not possible (or will display a warning message).

The problem is that in Windows operation eviroment you can't do anything with file that is currently in use. For example if you have tray_helper.exe running - update utility can't overwrite it with a new version because the file is in use.

Common solution to this problem is to create a temporaty file (like: tray_helper.exe.update) with a new version. This file will be copied to tray_helper.exe by loader utility (launch.exe). After updateing all files launch.exe starts main executable. But if someone starts tray_helper.exe directly then it's not possible to finish update proces.
